6 June 08 ... Race Update

Yamaha Series Glen Helen MX Park

11th overall:  This was a big class and a fun track they changed the track and put in a lot of sand ... COOL ... they let us race up the Yamaha hill like the pro's.

85cc 12-13 Friday May 23rd

?-They said they were going to do a re-race the next weekend? The canceled the 2nd moto because of the rain washed out a huge hole in the track?  100% pure Mud it rained NON STOP for 15 hours! I was running in first place in the first moto climbing the Yamaha hill and a rock got stuck in my counter sprocket and stopped my bike dead! I got it down to the bottom of the hill and we thought the engine was seized  my Dad got a fire hose off the side of the track and blew the mud off the bike so he could see what was going on under the mud and found the rock it took 5-min to get the rock out and by then the race was over ... Sucks I was way out front.

23 Apr 08 ... World Mini Grand Prix Nationals

Tyler has been waiting for this week for the last 5 years.   Tyler trained and rode his but off getting ready for this race.  Practice Tuesday Tyler looked great! Tyler looked like a top 5-10 rider for sure. We were very happy with the track and very happy with Tyler's practice lap times he was in the top 10 on lap times.
1st Moto Wed gate dropped and Tyler got taken out he got up and rode the moto for a finish.
2nd Moto Wed major pile up on the first corner Tyler's bike got stuck in a kids handle bars and finally got un-stuck and rode from dead last caught a couple of kids for a OK finish.
The scary day...Tyler was 100% ready and was wanting to finish in the top 10 at least. Tyler was riding very good this day he came around the fastest part of the track called the "Vegas strip", swapped out and wrecked HARD, very HARD.  Tyler was knocked out for 2-min+, was hauled off to the hospital in the ambulance to the trauma ward.  The paramedics were afraid that he had internal bleeding in his stomach, due to a swollen belly and low blood pressure.  At the hospital they determined Tyler had a concussion, no internal bleeding (thank god!!) They put Tyler on a IV, gave him a Cat-Scan and  MRI - everything checked out to be good.  Tyler had a swollen and black eye from the g-force of hitting the ground.
Tyler begged to race out the week so I gave in....?  Well Tyler was riding @ 75% and still managed to make it to the main in the 85 cc stock class .  We had mechanical issues and missed the 85 mod moto, putting Tyler out of the running for the main.  I will tell you, Tyler gave it everything he had this week and we are very proud of Tyler, he always gives 100%.  Tyler is a winner in his family and friends eyes.
We had a lot of friends come forward to help our son when he got hurt on the track and after we got back from the hospital.  I had over 20-people call my cell phone while we were at the hospital. It helped out our family to see the support and love this sport has.
Tyler was able to meet some of his sponsors at the race.  Jerry from 488 Web Design flew out to World Minis to support all his riders and is one of the best sponsors we have ever met.
No Fear was @ the race in full force - 18 wheelers, Totor homes and the No Fear support van. We got to meet Cory the No Fear MX support rider rep and Ryan the best all around promoter/Friend to all you will ever meet!  No Fear is a class act!  They made the kids and people feel like a million dollars! Ryan (No Fear) went out of his way to support Tyler thru all his ups and downs thru the week -  THANK YOU Ryan!  One more note on Ryan ...We have never in all our years in the industry seen anyone more in tune with the people than Ryan and No Fear as a company.

This was the most mentally demanding week we have ever had racing ..Hurt kids, wind, dust, good friends and in the end - FUN!
We will see you next year in Las Vegas.
The Churchill family

14 Dec 07 ... Brief summary of Tyler's 2007 Thanksgiving classic race...

First Moto of the week ...Me (Tyler) and another kid were battling for 3rd in the 85 open class and we got hooked up in the air on the biggest double @ the track I got the short end of that and had a knarley crash!!  Hurt my lower back Blood and all...Man that hurt. But I wanted to do this race all year so my Dad helped get my leg over my bike for the next couple of days of racing and I did my best!

I got some real bad starts so I got some good practice on passing it was frustrating and fun all at the same time!

We had over 70+ riders in the Supermini Class so they had Qualifiers like the big Nationals.  There were over 1200 riders at this race, so it is as big as some of the Armature Nationals.

I got 2nd in my Supermini Qualifier (my only good start of the whole week).  In the main I got pushed off the track on the start so I started in 35th and worked my way up to 5th (Not bad for 4-lap race).  I got a 5th overall in the Supermini Class.

In my Age group 85 cc 12-16 I got two more 20th and 11th place starts but I rode the wheels off of my Suzuki's and got a 3rd overall.

It was a way fun and a way frustrating weekend...You can count on me practicing my starts everyday from now on!  My Family and I had a great time.  Thanks you to all my sponsors and My Best friends my Mom and Dad for always supporting me!
